Question:
Beginning with version 0.82, Jakpod apparently attempts to establish a connection to some foreign host. My firewall complains that some application called "javaw.exe" (or similar) wants to "phone home". What's this all about?

Answer:
JakPod checks for available updates on every startup. It downloads a file called "update.txt" from the JakPod homepage, which contains a version number, a version display name and an update URL. If you want, you can look at the current content of this file here. JakPod never sends any sort of data from your computer to some other host in the internet.

If you want to disable the update check, deactivate the checkbox in the "Help" menu.
